Teresa Mercedes’ journey to Christ was not an easy one but met Jesus as her Healer. In her younger years, Teresa had struggled with substance abuse, many deaths, mental illness, and trauma. Because of Jesus, she has been able to turn all of the negative aspects in her life into positive ones.
Teresa’s journey began on April 21, 2002, when she completely surrendered herself to Christ. Teresa then made the decision to quit her job, sell her worldly possessions, and move to be discipled under the Master’s Commission Program in South Carolina. Her healing journey began with Jesus. She not only began to experience the deep healing power of Jesus but in her training, she also went all hands in ministry.
Teresa was given the opportunity to travel and learn to share her testimony at the same time she was being healed from her testimony. Revelation 12:11 “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.” Her desire for the mission field was birthed at Masters Commission. She was blessed to travel many places domestically, she learned how big Texas was during their first time driving with the team from South Carolina to Mexico. She was blessed to be part of a traveling ministry that preached via sermons, testimony and skits. Her first international mission trip was to her parents native homeland Dominican Republic and when they traveled to Mexico she learned the heart breaking reality of orphanage homes in a deeper heartfelt way. One of the gifts Teresa was told she had was the gift of evangelism, she never saw it until she was trained and realized the love she had for the lost souls.
When she returned to her home church in the Bronx, she began her role as a missionary evangelist. She reached out to those in her surrounding areas and began to do street preaching with a hunger to let the souls know about Jesus Christ. On December 5, 2005 while preaching on the street God had a divine appointment to meet Retired Captain Alfonzo Bonillo from Vapors of Faith ministry to open the doors to minister at Rikers Island for many years to come.
Teresa continued to have a desire for international mission trips and was blessed to go with a team to Uganda, Africa and to Bangalore, India. In December 2017, shortly after Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico the Lord put in Teresa heart to help lead a mission trip of 24 volunteers to bring much needed aid to the island. Teresa considers it an honor that the Lord allows her to serve other Christian groups, has been able to organize a retreat and help other ministries with whatever is needed to further spread the message of God. She has been blessed to witness people be completely transformed into having an identity in Christ Jesus.
Teresa desires to see each person reach their full potential in the name of the Lord. She is extremely committed to helping as many people as she can in any way possible. Teresa is the Secretary and Chaplain for L.A.C.A (Latin African American Chaplains Assoc.). She also serves as a Deacon at her local Church. Teresa is also the founder of A Touch From God Inc.
The mission of A Touch From God Inc. is to help individuals and families to experience the love of Christ by providing life changing experience in practical ways through the Love of Christ.
